For eight years, I served as managing editor of the Culpeper Star-Exponent, a daily newspaper in northern Virginia. In that capacity, I also led the newsroom's marketing efforts, designing campaigns that promoted our community presence through print, multimedia and social channels. I developed our Facebook and Twitter pages, served as company spokesman at public events, fielded interviews from regional media outlets, pitched stories to the Associated Press and conducted live political analysis of a presidential election on international TV.
In 2006, I became the youngest person elected by my peers to the national board of what is now the Associated Press Media Editors. Serving a two-year term, I chaired APME's marketing committee, leading efforts to promote the group's annual conferences in Las Vegas and Washington, D.C. In freelance, contract and consulting capacities, I have developed a variety of content-driven messaging for prominent clients across the nation. |
